Ángela Solís O'Neill is a visual artist based in Seville working primarily in painting and drawing, while also exploring sculpture. Recent solo exhibitions include Un Sol que se Cayó a la Piscina y se Ahogó at Galería Haurie, Seville (2026), and Ciudades, Derivas. Cartografías Oníricas at Espacio Mondo, Seville (2025). Her work has also been shown in group exhibitions in Spain, the United Kingdom, Portugal, and the United States, including Fundación Pons, Madrid; Terrace Gallery, London; Museo Antiquarium, Seville; Círculo de Bellas Artes, Madrid; and the New York Academy of Art, New York.
She has taken part in international residencies and training programmes including PADA, Lisbon (2024), and the New York Academy of Art Summer Residency (2021). Her recent recognitions include Second Prize in the Acciona Emerging Art Award (2025), and finalist distinctions in several painting, sculpture, and emerging art competitions in Spain. Her background includes studies at Escuela SUR at Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid and a Master's degree in Artistic Project Production and Management.
STATEMENT
My work begins with drawing as a way of thinking through the body. I am interested in how images appear before they fully settle - how a gesture, a figure, or a fragment of a scene can emerge through repetition, erasure, and material transformation.
I move between drawing and painting, often working in a space between abstraction and figuration. Bodies, traces of everyday life, and unstable forms recur in my work as ways of approaching memory, perception, and presence. Rather than fixing an image completely, I am interested in keeping it open: suspended between recognition and disappearance, intimacy and distance.
