The "Cities" series is a visual exploration that takes recognizable objects and elements—such as houses, chairs, human figures, and industrial shapes—and deconstructs them into abstract, gestural, and spontaneous strokes. Throughout the series, the same visual elements are repeated: distorted structures, intense black and brown lines, and a blurred background that seems to fade into soft shades of yellow. This repetition creates a formal cohesion, yet each piece offers a new way to disconnect these objects from their usual context, inviting the viewer to question their meaning. The purpose of the series is to show how, when these elements are removed from their common frames of reference, their meaning changes. A house, which in a familiar setting represents safety, in these compositions loses its stability and form, becoming almost unrecognizable. The same happens with the human figures, which appear blurred, integrated into a visual chaos that defies literal interpretation.
The artist deliberately ambiguously uses these symbols, suggesting that their context exists in our minds and that the way we perceive them depends entirely on our personal experience.
"Cities" also reflects on how we perceive reality. Just as a city can be experienced very differently depending on the moment in our lives, these familiar objects, once removed from their environment, turn into abstractions whose meaning changes depending on the viewer. The work invites us to consider how our emotions, memories, and thoughts shape the filter through which we interpret the world. As a whole, the series proposes a visual experience in which everyday objects are transformed into malleable ideas. By deconstructing them into abstract shapes and lines, the artist emphasizes that the meaning we assign to things is a mental construct, dependent on the subjective context that each of us uniquely brings to us.
